Haim, a discharged soldier after the Yom Kippur War, walks the streets of the city on his release holiday, enters the municipal police station and decides to enlist in the police force. He served as a police officer until his retirement after decades as a senior officer, with a family and memories of scars and traumas from the battles in Sinai.
The book emphasizes, in addition to the plots and events, the human relations between the police officers themselves and between them and the citizens, alongside family life, friendships and conduct in the shadow of the rigid hierarchy and police tasks.
The book, which is accompanied by excerpts of poetry, which enhance and explain the events, is an imaginary novel in the spirit of the period of service in police units, where the author Nissan Bar Braunstein served as a policeman and officer in various positions and also served as an officer in the prison service.
